Teun Castelein and I pitched a project called I dove you for Liefde in de stad and were given the chance to realize it.

With I dove you we wanted to spread some love in the city of Amsterdam while at the same time improve the reputation of one of it’s most hated residents: the pigeons.

We built giant red bird houses on three locations and trained the local pigeons to come eat there. Those pigeons were carefully caught, ringed with an RFID enabled ring, photographed, and released.

On our website people could select a pigeon, all named after a famous person from Amsterdam, and send it off with a message. As soon as that pigeon would return ‘home’ the message would be delivered: shown on the LED display and an email sent out to the intended receiver of the message with an invitation to go see the message.
